When we showed up to the track Thursday morning, no team and no kart. Made a few phone calls and found out the kart was in Ocala 4 hours away. So Sting Ray, Larry (dad) and myself drove to Ocala, rented a Budget van, worked on the kart for a couple hours. Thanks to Ocala Gran Prix who also helped build the kart we were out of there around 8:00pm. At 2:00 am we were back at the hotel to get a few hours of sleep.

Friday

Even though we were tired friday was a pretty uneventful, productive day of practice. Since Sting Ray was one day behind we focused on his lines and worked on the new karts setup. At the end of the day we were about .5 off Logan Sargent who set the fastest pace at 56.10 seconds.

Saturday Race Day #1

Sting Ray was very strong Saturday morning and qualified 6th out of the 35 entries. In Heat 1 start on the outside he fell back to 9th, and moved his way up, picking off 2 guys to finish 7th. He had a great drive in the pre-final and definitely showed his speed running times within a tenth of the leaders.

In the final Sting Ray had a good start and was with the lead pack. He was able to pass two more drivers to finish 5th in the 20 lap final. A great finish for the opening round.

Sunday Race Day #2

In qualifying Sting Ray got out in the lead and was leading the field for about 5-6 laps while the others followed and drafted, achieving better times. Sting Ray at one point was in 19th overall. With only a few minutes left Sting Ray was able to get in the draft and pull off 12th place overall. A disappointing run, because he had the speed to be in the top 5, but because the track is so long drafting was essential and Sting Ray was unable to capitalize.

In the pre final his chance to get another top 5 was short lived as he was knocked out in the chicanes and his bumper bolt broke. Sting Ray would DNF and receive a 28th place.

In the final, Sting Ray had an amazing drive. Starting at the rear of the field, he consistently made strong passes, moving through the field. He passed a total of 19 karts and was inside the top 10. An impressive drive and very exciting to watch. On the last lap however there was a red flag, which made the results go back two laps. In the end Sting Ray finished 11th, but had the drive of his life.

“I am super happy with this weekends results. We worked hard on his lines, and setup and it paid off. Sting Ray proved this weekend that he can drive with the best in the Country and we will take everything we learned this weekend and apply it to next weekend in Minimax. We are gonna take Monday off for some R&R and will be back on track starting Tuesday in our preparations.” Blake Choquer

P.S. Take a look at the picture of the gator, by the tech barn. We call him Axle! He is huge.

It was probably one of the worst weekends we could have experienced when it came to luck. We bent, broke pretty much anything and everything around us. Even though one might have good speed, luck is a key factor. In the end though Chad’s final race was the race of the day. He started 34th (dead last) and drove his best race ever to take 10th place in the Dellorto Cup.

It was a great trip in the end and it was again such a pleasure to travel with Chad, “The Grunows” to South Garda, Italy for the Rok Finals. We sure were thrown a curve ball with all the bad luck, but as usual in the end it always works out.

Heres a list of what we fixed in order:

Bent chassis (replaced the frame)
Seized engine
Bent steering column
Broken tie rods
Another bent frame
Bent Steering column
Broken seat
Broken kart stand

Download Hi Res Image

Have Fun!

So a couple tricks. All you have to do is keep your web browser open all day and you can use the software without a web connection.

The program is a great starting point and I did my by best to have jetting suggestions that are actual worth trying. I think its still a little rich on the main jet so you can go 1-2 jets leaner and feel safe.

It’s going to be a work in progress, so if you have any suggestions or issues send me a quick email. Email Blake

These Manufacturers shall expressly enter the Championship by stating that they are engine suppliers, and they must place at the disposal of Drivers a set of identical and sealed engines at each event. When they enter the Championship, Drivers will indicate the engine brand of their choice from entered makes, and they will be allocated at each event two engines by drawing lots from the set of engines of the said brand. These engines shall comply with the current KF2 regulations.
With the aim of making more attractive the yearly programme proposed to the Drivers of the
categories concerned, it has been decided to increase to two the number of rounds counting
towards the CIK-FIA European Championships of the KF2 & KF3 categories, as a replacement to the current format which comprises two regional (North and South) qualifications followed by a final. It will be mandatory for Drivers entered in these European Championships to take part in both their events in order to be eligible for the World Cups to be held later in the season.

Technical and Homologation Regulations

Two modifications with immediate application have been made to the valid Technical
Regulations: on the one hand it will be mandatory to use reinforcement plates for the
attachment of ballast when it is placed on the seat and, on the other, the reading of GPS data
by data logging systems is authorised. As from 2012, the use of tyres in the KZ1 category will be extended to «Medium» type compounds instead of being restricted to «Soft» ones.

In the year 2012, there will be a new homologation session for KF engines, to be valid as from
1st January 2013. Manufacturers will be able to homologate up to two makes of engines and
two engine models per make, compared to just one make and one model until now. Bodywork Manufacturers will have the possibility to homologate and produce rear wheel protections made of several elements instead of being in one part. As from 2013, the choice of the homologated carburettor make for the CIK-FIA KF3 Championships, Cups and Trophies will be left up to the Entrants’ appreciation. It will no longer be a single model designated further to a tender procedure. In 2017, 250cc engines from Grand Prix

(July 13,2011) - Two weeks ago at the Western Canadian Rotax Championship, Bryce Choquer (BBR/Tony Kart) had almost a perfect weekend. Bryce came out of the gates very strong going P1, winning the pre-final and final on Saturday. Currently trailing Chris Glover (GBR/ LH) in the points race, Bryce needed the 2nd victory on Sunday to close the gap and be in contention for the championship and a chance to represent Canada at the Rotax Grand Finals.

On Sunday Bryce struggled with a engine problem and fell back to 4th in qualifying. In heat 1 Bryce fell back to 8th after contact on the start and slowly moved back up to 5th. In the final, Bryce brought his A game moving through the field and hunting the leader Chris Glover down. Half way through the race, Bryce had caught Glover passed him in turn one and pulled away gapping the field. The wins were well celebrated and Bryce has now closed the points battle with Glover.

A protest was filed after the race because the race officials were slow in throwing the green and the first 1/4 of the field had passed the starter tower. The field did receive a green flag heading into turn one from the flagger post.

In a decision made today by SRA Karting, ASN Canada and Max Challenge Canada because of the officials error on Sunday with the start, the decision was made to over turn the final race and use the points from the pre final as the final race, giving Chris Glover 1st place points and Bryce 5th place points.

This decision ultimately handed Chris Glover the Championship and eliminates Bryce from making a Championship run at the 2011 Western Canadian Rotax Championship.

In a statement today after the press release Blake Choquer president of BBR Karting stated "This decision is very disappointing because if we were at the US Nationals or Canadian Nationals and the same outcome took place, I highly doubt they would go back to the pre final results. This race should be no different, because it is a Rotax Grand Final qualifying series. Bryce had an amazing race and he beat Glover fair and square, which were valuable points to a Championship run. This decision has killed any chance of winning because Glover will get a free victory and Bryce another 5th place. "
Leading the way was the Bryce Choquer (BBR/ Tony Kart), a multi-time representative of Team Canada at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, Choquer did his best to return to Team Canada by holding off a race long chase by Chris Glover (GBR/LH Kart). The two quickly broke away in the 22-lap final around Martensville Speedway, but with both drivers making no mistakes, Choquer scored the victory. A great battle for third featured Dalton Kellett (Goodwood/Intrepid), Scott Campbell, Noel Dowler and Adam Isman. Sting competed in three classes, Animal Light, Animal Heavy, and Minimax. Sting Ray qualified on pole in both animal classes and lead every lap to take the wins. In minimax Sting Ray qualified 3rd and finished 2nd in the heat race. Unfortunately both were struck with some bad luck in the finals. All in all it was a great weekend and the two drivers really showed great speed all weekend. A total of 61 cars were entered. The last two months we spent many late nights at the shop building our Martini theme 1991 Volkswagen Golf. At the start of the race we were in 21st spot. With the heavy rain fall, each driver drove well and slowly we moved up through the field. In the end we ended up with a solid 10th place.

The best part is the car is still in mint shape and ready to go. The next race will be the 24 hour in Spokane.

His stellar performance on Saturday after a DNF in the prefinal brought him from 15th to 6th in the final. On Sunday he did not disappoint qualifying 5th He had a great battle in the pre final to finish 4th, but in the final Sting Ray had a battle on his hands with two competitors. He fell back to 7th on the closing laps and remained there.

Overall it was a great weekend for the 9 year sensation from Idaho. For the 2nd race Sting Ray will be competing on his new 2011 Tony Kart looking for a pair of top 5 finishes.

In Rotax senior Bryce struggled in the pack of 32 with his engine. Bryce’s #1 engine lost compression and he found himself running mid pack 12-18th and 4 tenths off. In the end it was a weekend he will remember not for his glory but for the struggles and hard work required trying to get back up to speed. The competition is the deepest it has been in years, so having top performing equipment is critical.

Bryce will also be driving his new 2011 Tony Kart EVRR in the 2nd round of Gatorz.

For Derrick this race was about gaining experience and he got exactly what he was looking for.To say the least Derrick battled every lap, and in some cases beating big names like Joey Wimsett and Chris Glover. Derrick had a great trip and he will be back for the 2nd round.

The BBR Karting team enjoyed some great evenings including watching a ASU basketball game, Phoenix Suns vs. Trail Blazers and two of the most famous restaurants in Phoenix including Rustlers Roost, Pinnacle Peak.

He fall back to 15th and after multiple battles including one with Hugo Oullette. Bryce managed to pull ahead but had to settle for 13th. Not a good position to be starting the final but finally a chance to be on the inside row for the start.

In the final Bryce started 13th and had a great start as the inside row created a freight train and Bryce squeezed into 5th off the start. The first 4 had a gap on Bryce, but Bryces opening laps were very strong and he managed to close the .65 sec gap on the leaders. A few laps later Caleb Williams passed Bryce and Bryce fell back into 6th where he remained for most of the race.

In the last two laps Bryce was ahead of Danny Formal and Tom Fawcett. Formal passed Bryce and Bryce returned the favour the following corner. Formal again made the pass and Fawcett followed. In the last lap with 4 corners to go Bryce passed Fawcett and held on to a very exciting, well deserved 6th place.

“I am so proud of Bryce. He drove amazing and after the race, Caleb Williams (World Champion) came up to Bryce and said great job and that he was impressed on how well Bryce did. That just goes to show you people are noticing the young 16 year old from Vancouver, Canada. Bryce has a great potential and this weekend the World got to see his developing talents. “Blake Choquer”
